He must take a wife who is a virgin. ¹ 

He will take your daughters to be ointment makers, cooks, and bakers.

He deprives the trusted advisers ¹  of speech ²  and takes away the discernment ³  of elders.

Iron is taken from the ground, ¹  and rock is poured out ²  as copper.

May his days be few! ¹  May another take his job! ² 

Old and new wine take away the understanding of my people. ¹ 

He must not marry ¹  a widow, a divorced woman, or one profaned by prostitution; he may only take a virgin from his people ²  as a wife.

Suppose a man marries a woman, has sexual relations with her, ¹  and then rejects ²  her,

The Lord has heard my appeal for mercy; the Lord has accepted ¹  my prayer.

The wise person ¹  accepts instructions, ²  but the one who speaks foolishness ³  will come to ruin. ⁴ 

A wicked person receives a bribe secretly ¹  to pervert ²  the ways of justice.

When a scorner is punished, the naive ¹  becomes wise; when a wise person is instructed, ²  he gains knowledge.

If you do not have enough to pay, your bed ¹  will be taken ²  right out from under you! ³ 

Let a little water be brought so that ¹  you may all ²  wash your feet and rest under the tree.

If he takes another wife, ¹  he must not diminish the first one’s food, ²  her clothing, or her marital rights. ³ 

He must also take ¹  two male goats ²  from the congregation of the Israelites for a sin offering and one ram for a burnt offering.

(23:1) ¹  A man may not marry ²  his father’s former ³  wife and in this way dishonor his father. ⁴ 

He will take your best fields and vineyards and give them to his own servants.

He will take your male and female servants, as well as your best cattle and your donkeys, and assign them for his own use.

‘Some of your very own descendants whom you father ¹  will be taken away and will be made eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”
