“Present your argument,” says the Lord. “Produce your evidence,” ¹  says Jacob’s king. ² 

Let Israel say, “Yes, his loyal love endures!”

Who can say, ¹  “I have kept my heart clean; ²  I am pure ³  from my sin”?

Indeed, ¹  he says: “Are not my officials all kings?

“Comfort, comfort my people,” says your ¹  God.

“To whom can you compare me? Whom do I resemble?” says the Holy One. ¹ 

And when it came to rest he would say, “Return, O Lord, to the many thousands of Israel!” ¹ 

I would know with what words ¹  he would answer me, and understand what he would say to me.

A song of ascents. ²  “Since my youth they have often attacked me,” let Israel say.

“It’s worthless! It’s worthless!” ¹  says the buyer, ²  but when he goes on his way, he boasts. ³ 

“Now I will rise up,” says the Lord. “Now I will exalt myself; now I will magnify myself. ¹ 

They help one another; ¹  one says to the other, ‘Be strong!’

We must go ¹  on a three-day journey ²  into the desert and sacrifice ³  to the Lord our God, just as he is telling us.” ⁴ 

This is why it is said in the Book of the Wars of the Lord, “Waheb in Suphah ¹  and the wadis, the Arnon

It’s like the old proverb says: ‘From evil people evil proceeds.’ But my hand will not be against you.

However, if he should say, ‘I do not take pleasure in you,’ then he will deal with me in a way that he considers appropriate.” ¹ 

But Micaiah said, “As certainly as the Lord lives, I will say what the Lord tells me to say.”

But Micaiah said, “As certainly as the Lord lives, I will say what my God tells me to say!”

If he snatches away, ¹  who can turn him back? ²  Who dares to say to him, ‘What are you doing?’

For to the snow he says, ‘Fall ¹  to earth,’ and to the torrential rains, ²  ‘Pour down.’ ³
