They invade like lumberjacks swinging their axes in a thick forest. ¹ 

Who can really fathom the intensity of your anger? ¹  Your raging fury causes people to fear you. ² 

Certainly ¹  the Lord guards the way of the godly, ²  but the way of the wicked ends in destruction. ³ 

The Lord watches over the innocent day by day ¹  and they possess a permanent inheritance. ² 

The one who conducts himself ¹  in integrity ²  will live ³  securely, but the one who behaves perversely ⁴  will be found out.

A righteous person cares for ¹  the life of his animal, but even the most compassionate acts ²  of the wicked are cruel.

A fool’s annoyance ¹  is known at once, ²  but the prudent ³  overlooks ⁴  an insult.

The heart knows its own bitterness, ¹  and with its joy no one else ²  can share. ³ 

The truly wise person ¹  restrains ²  his words, and the one who stays calm ³  is discerning.

for suddenly their destruction will overtake them, ¹  and who knows the ruinous judgment both the Lord and the king can bring? ² 

Now I am sending you Huram Abi, ¹  a skilled and capable man,

Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Before our very eyes may the shed blood of your servants be avenged among the nations! ¹ 

So what advantage does a wise man have over a fool? ¹  And what advantage ²  does a pauper gain by knowing how to survive? ³ 

Who knows? Perhaps he will be compassionate and grant a reprieve, ¹  and leave blessing in his wake ²  – a meal offering and a drink offering for you to offer to the Lord your God! ³ 

Who knows? ¹  Perhaps God might be willing to change his mind and relent ²  and turn from his fierce anger ³  so that we might not die.” ⁴ 

The previous abundance of the land will not be remembered ¹  because of the famine that follows, for the famine will be very severe. ² 

Now, my dear, don’t worry! ¹  I intend to do for you everything you propose, ²  for everyone in the village ³  knows that you are a worthy woman. ⁴ 

So she slept beside him ¹  until morning. She woke up while it was still dark. ²  Boaz thought, ³  “No one must know that a woman visited the threshing floor.” ⁴ 

He replied, “While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept because I thought, ¹  ‘Perhaps ²  the Lord will show pity and the child will live.

Who knows if he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet ¹  he will be master over all the fruit of ²  my labor ³  for which I worked so wisely ⁴  on earth! ⁵  This also is futile!
