Ahi son of Abdiel, son of Guni, was the leader of the family. ¹ 

They cast lots, both young and old, according to their families, to determine which gate they would be responsible for. ¹ 

“For inquire now of the former ¹  generation, and pay attention ²  to the findings ³  of their ancestors; ⁴ 

He did amazing things in the sight of their ancestors, in the land of Egypt, in the region of Zoan. ¹

There were 20,200 family leaders and warriors listed in their genealogical records.

Instead they have followed the stubborn inclinations of their own hearts. They have paid allegiance to ¹  the gods called Baal, ²  as their fathers ³  taught them to do.

These were the leaders of their families: ¹  Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel. They were skilled warriors, men of reputation, ²  and leaders of their families.

They have gone back to the evil ways ¹  of their ancestors of old who refused to obey what I told them. They, too, have paid allegiance to ²  other gods and worshiped them. Both the nation of Israel and the nation of Judah ³  have violated the covenant I made with their ancestors.

You must write Aaron’s name on the staff of Levi; for one staff is for the head of every tribe. ¹

According to the genealogical records of their families, they had 36,000 warriors available for battle, for they had numerous wives and sons. ¹ 

Their relatives, who were leaders of their families, numbered 1,760. They were capable men who were assigned to carry out the various tasks of service in God’s temple. ¹ 

From Ephraim there were 20,800 warriors, who had brought fame to their families. ¹
