Praise him, O highest heaven, and you waters above the sky! ¹ 

The heavens – indeed the highest heavens – belong to the Lord your God, as does the earth and everything in it.

The heavens belong to the Lord, ¹  but the earth he has given to mankind. ² 

“God does not really live on the earth! ¹  Look, if the sky and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this temple I have built!

This is the account ¹  of the heavens and the earth ²  when they were created – when the Lord God ³  made the earth and heavens. ⁴ 

The fountains of the deep and the floodgates of heaven were closed, ¹  and the rain stopped falling from the sky.

to the one who rides through the sky from ancient times! ¹  Look! He thunders loudly. ² 

The heavens and the earth ¹  were completed with everything that was in them. ² 

He made the sky sink ¹  as he descended; a thick cloud was under his feet.

You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, ¹  along with all their multitude of stars, ²  the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You impart life to them all, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.

The heavens reveal his iniquity; the earth rises up against him.

The pillars ¹  of the heavens tremble and are amazed at his rebuke. ² 

who teaches us ¹  more than ²  the wild animals of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the sky?’

The one enthroned ¹  in heaven laughs in disgust; ²  the Lord taunts ³  them.

They speak as if they rule in heaven, and lay claim to the earth. ¹ 

He gave a command to the clouds above, and opened the doors in the sky.

He brought the east wind through the sky, and by his strength led forth the south wind.

He covers himself with light as if it were a garment. He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain,

They asked for food, ¹  and he sent quails; he satisfied them with food from the sky. ² 

He bends down to look ¹  at the sky and the earth.
