So Israel hid men in ambush outside Gibeah.

but these men lie in wait for their own blood, ¹  they ambush their own lives! ²

However, suppose a person hates someone else ¹  and stalks him, attacks him, kills him, ²  and then flees to one of these cities.

He told ¹  them, “Look, set an ambush behind the city. Don’t go very far from the city; all of you be ready!
