He lies in ambush in a hidden place, like a lion in a thicket; ¹  he lies in ambush, waiting to catch ²  the oppressed; he catches the oppressed ³  by pulling in his net. ⁴ 

The fatherless child is snatched ¹  from the breast, ²  the infant of the poor is taken as a pledge. ³ 

He does not allow the wicked to live, ¹  but he gives justice to the poor.

He delivers the afflicted by ¹  their ²  afflictions, he reveals himself to them ³  by their suffering.

You want to humiliate the oppressed, ¹  even though ²  the Lord is their ³  shelter.

Then he will judge ¹  your people fairly, and your oppressed ones ²  equitably.

Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless! ¹  Vindicate the oppressed and suffering!

The one who despises his neighbor sins, but whoever is kind to the needy is blessed.

She extends ¹  her hand ²  to the poor, and reaches out her hand to the needy.

It is trampled underfoot by the feet of the oppressed, by the soles of the poor.”

With all my strength I will say, ¹  “O Lord, who can compare to you? You rescue ²  the oppressed from those who try to overpower them; ³  the oppressed and needy from those who try to rob them.” ⁴ 

If the person is poor you may not use what he gives you as security for a covering. ¹ 

You deliver oppressed ¹  people, but you watch the proud and bring them down. ² 

for I rescued the poor who cried out for help, and the orphan who ¹  had no one to assist him;

so that they caused ¹  the cry of the poor to come before him, so that he hears ²  the cry of the needy.

The wicked arrogantly chase the oppressed; ¹  the oppressed are trapped ²  by the schemes the wicked have dreamed up. ³ 

Rise up, Lord! ¹  O God, strike him down! ²  Do not forget the oppressed!

Turn toward me and have mercy on me, for I am alone ¹  and oppressed!

for you live among them. ¹  You sustain the oppressed with your good blessings, O God.

I am oppressed and suffering! O God, deliver and protect me! ¹
