How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness, and insulted him ¹  in the desert!

for they aroused ¹  his temper, ²  and he spoke rashly. ³ 

“We ¹  have blatantly rebelled; ²  you ³  have not forgiven.”

ר (Resh) Look, O Lord! I am distressed; ¹  my stomach is in knots! ²  My heart is pounding ³  inside me. Yes, I was terribly rebellious! ⁴  Out in the street the sword bereaves a mother of her children; ⁵  Inside the house death is present. ⁶ 

You were not willing to go up, however, but instead rebelled against the Lord your God. ¹ 

You have been rebelling against him ¹  from the very first day I knew you!

Surely mockery ¹  is with me; ²  my eyes must dwell on their hostility. ³

I spoke to you, but you did not listen. Instead you rebelled against the Lord ¹  and recklessly went up to the hill country.

Condemn them, ¹  O God! May their own schemes be their downfall! ²  Drive them away ³  because of their many acts of insurrection, ⁴  for they have rebelled against you.

But if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured ¹  by the sword.” Know for certain that the Lord has spoken. ² 

The sovereign Lord has spoken to me clearly; ¹  I have not rebelled, I have not turned back.

But they rebelled and offended ¹  his holy Spirit, ²  so he turned into an enemy and fought against them.
