How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness, and insulted him ¹  in the desert!

In the wilderness they had an insatiable craving ¹  for meat; ²  they challenged God ³  in the desert.

O God, when you lead your people into battle, ¹  when you march through the desert, ²  (Selah)

They wandered through the wilderness on a desert road; they found no city in which to live.

“Look, I am about to do something new. Now it begins to happen! ¹  Do you not recognize ²  it? Yes, I will make a road in the desert and paths ³  in the wilderness.

The wild animals of the desert honor me, the jackals and ostriches, because I put water in the desert and streams in the wilderness, to quench the thirst of my chosen people,
