the plague that comes in the darkness, or the disease that comes at noon. ¹ 

Plague goes before him; pestilence ¹  marches right behind him. ² 

The sword is outside; pestilence and famine are inside the house. Whoever is in the open field will die by the sword, and famine and pestilence will consume everyone in the city.

he will certainly rescue you from the snare of the hunter ¹  and from the destructive plague.

I will strike them with the pestilence, ¹  and I will disinherit them; I will make you into a nation that is greater and mightier than they!”

So the Lord sent a plague through Israel, and 70,000 Israelite men died.

He sent his anger in full force; ¹  he did not spare them from death; he handed their lives over to destruction. ² 

I will kill everything living in Jerusalem, ¹  people and animals alike! They will die from terrible diseases.

I will punish those who live in the land of Egypt with war, starvation, and disease just as I punished Jerusalem.

then the hand of the Lord will surely bring ¹  a very terrible plague ²  on your livestock in the field, on the horses, the donkeys, the camels, ³  the herds, and the flocks.

For by now I could have stretched out ¹  my hand and struck you and your people with plague, and you would have been destroyed ²  from the earth.

I will bring on you an avenging sword, a covenant vengeance. ¹  Although ²  you will gather together into your cities, I will send pestilence among you and you will be given into enemy hands. ³ 

The Lord will plague you with deadly diseases ¹  until he has completely removed you from the land you are about to possess.

So the Lord sent a plague through Israel from the morning until the completion of the appointed time. Seventy thousand men died from Dan to Beer Sheba.

When ¹  I close up the sky ²  so that it doesn’t rain, or command locusts to devour the land’s vegetation, ³  or send a plague among my people,

Those who stay in this city will die in battle or of starvation or disease. Those who leave the city and surrender to the Babylonians who are besieging it will live. They will escape with their lives. ¹ 

I will bring war, starvation, and disease ¹  on them until they are completely destroyed from the land I gave them and their ancestors.’” ² 

There is no reason why you and your people should die in war ¹  or from starvation or disease! ²  That’s what the Lord says will happen to any nation ³  that will not be subject to the king of Babylon.

From earliest times, the prophets who preceded you and me invariably ¹  prophesied war, disaster, ²  and plagues against many countries and great kingdoms.

So now be very sure of this: You will die from war, starvation, or disease in the place where you want to go and live.”
