All of Adonijah’s guests panicked; ¹  they jumped up and rushed off their separate ways.

But when the king came in to see the wedding guests, he saw a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes.

And those slaves went out into the streets and gathered all they found, both bad and good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.

Although it grieved the king, ¹  because of his oath and the dinner guests he commanded it to be given.

Although it grieved the king deeply, ¹  he did not want to reject her request because of his oath and his guests.

Now Adonijah and all his guests heard the commotion just as they had finished eating. ¹  When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he asked, “Why is there such a noisy commotion in the city?” ² 

But they do not realize ¹  that the dead ²  are there, that her guests are in the depths of the grave. ³ 

So ¹  Jesus said to them, “You cannot make the wedding guests ²  fast while the bridegroom ³  is with them, can you? ⁴ 

Then ¹  when Jesus ²  noticed how the guests ³  chose the places of honor, ⁴  he told them a parable. He said to them,

Be silent before the Lord God, ¹  for the Lord’s day of judgment ²  is almost here. ³  The Lord has prepared a sacrificial meal; ⁴  he has ritually purified ⁵  his guests.

When his daughter Herodias ¹  came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests. The king said to the girl, “Ask me for whatever you want and I will give it to you.”

My guests ¹  and my servant girls consider ²  me a stranger; I am a foreigner ³  in their eyes.

Now two hundred men had gone with Absalom from Jerusalem. Since they were invited, they went naively and were unaware of what Absalom was planning. ¹ 

So Peter ¹  invited them in and entertained them as guests. On the next day he got up and set out ²  with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa ³  accompanied him.

Jesus said to them, “The wedding guests ¹  cannot mourn while the bridegroom ²  is with them, can they? But the days ³  are coming when the bridegroom will be taken from them, ⁴  and then they will fast.

Jesus ¹  said to them, “The wedding guests ²  cannot fast while the bridegroom ³  is with them, can they? ⁴  As long as they have the bridegroom with them they do not fast.

He sent his slaves ¹  to summon those who had been invited to the banquet, but they would not come.

Then he said to his slaves, ‘The wedding is ready, but the ones who had been invited were not worthy.

But Jesus ¹  said to him, “A man once gave a great banquet ²  and invited ³  many guests. ⁴ 

and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding. ¹
