Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man ¹  does not live by bread alone.’” ² 

For Moses writes about the righteousness that is by the law: “The one who does these things will live by them.” ¹ 

Now it is clear no one is justified before God by the law, because the righteous one will live by faith. ¹ 

But the law is not based on faith, ¹  but the one who does the works of the law ²  will live by them. ³ 

But he answered, ¹  “It is written, ‘Man ²  does not live ³  by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” ⁴ 

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live ¹  even if he dies,

For the righteousness ¹  of God is revealed in the gospel ²  from faith to faith, ³  just as it is written, “The righteous by faith will live.” ⁴ 

But my righteous one will live by faith, and if he shrinks back, I ¹  take no pleasure in him. ² 

As he was saying these things, a ruler came, bowed low before him, and said, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her and she will live.”
