For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’ ¹ 

For John the Baptist has come ¹  eating no bread and drinking no wine, ²  and you say, ‘He has a demon!’ ³ 

Jesus replied, ¹  “Everyone who drinks some of this water will be thirsty ²  again.

The one who eats ¹  my flesh and drinks my blood resides in me, and I in him. ² 

For the one who eats and drinks without careful regard ¹  for the body eats and drinks judgment against himself.

The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him, ¹  a glutton and a drunk, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ ² 

The one who eats ¹  my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. ² 

The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look at him, ¹  a glutton and a drunk, a friend of tax collectors ²  and sinners!’ ³  But wisdom is vindicated ⁴  by her deeds.” ⁵
