But now I go to Jerusalem to minister to the saints.

“Brothers and fathers, listen to my defense ¹  that I now ²  make to you.”

nor can they prove ¹  to you the things ²  they are accusing me of doing. ³ 

But now it is no longer me doing it, but sin that lives in me.

But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

who was formerly useless to you, but is now useful to you ¹  and me.

But now ¹  apart from the law the righteousness of God (which is attested by the law and the prophets) ²  has been disclosed –

And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

But now in Christ Jesus you who used to be far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. ¹ 

And you were at one time strangers and enemies in your ¹  minds ²  as expressed through ³  your evil deeds,

But now, put off all such things ¹  as anger, rage, malice, slander, abusive language from your mouth.

I would rather appeal ¹  to you on the basis of love – I, Paul, an old man ²  and even now a prisoner for the sake of Christ Jesus ³  –

But now, freed ¹  from sin and enslaved to God, you have your benefit ²  leading to sanctification, and the end is eternal life.

But now we have been released from the law, because we have died ¹  to what controlled us, so that we may serve in the new life of the Spirit and not under the old written code. ² 

But now there is nothing more to keep me ¹  in these regions, and I have for many years desired ²  to come to you

to finish what you started, ¹  so that just as you wanted to do it eagerly, ²  you can also complete it ³  according to your means. ⁴ 

And we are sending ¹  with them our brother whom we have tested many times and found eager in many matters, but who now is much more eager than ever because of the great confidence he has in you.

for then he would have had to suffer again and again since the foundation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the consummation of the ages to put away sin by his sacrifice.
