But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.” ¹ 

But Jesus ¹  said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, ²  but as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” ³ 

Why do you people ¹  think ²  it is unbelievable ³  that ⁴  God raises the dead?

And although you were ¹  dead ²  in your transgressions and sins,

They will face a reckoning before ¹  Jesus Christ ²  who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.

The ¹  sea gave up the dead that were in it, and Death ²  and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each one was judged according to his deeds.

Heal the sick, raise the dead, ¹  cleanse lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, ¹  so also the Son gives life to whomever he wishes. ² 

So you too consider yourselves ¹  dead to sin, but ²  alive to God in Christ Jesus.

even though we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you are saved! ¹  –

And even though you were dead in your ¹  transgressions and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, he nevertheless ²  made you alive with him, having forgiven all your transgressions.

I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:

and women received back their dead raised to life. ¹  But others were tortured, not accepting release, to obtain resurrection to a better life. ² 

(as it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations”). ¹  He is our father ²  in the presence of God whom he believed – the God who ³  makes the dead alive and summons the things that do not yet exist as though they already do. ⁴ 

Indeed we felt as if the sentence of death had been passed against us, ¹  so that we would not trust in ourselves ²  but in God who raises the dead.

And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne. Then ¹  books were opened, and another book was opened – the book of life. ²  So ³  the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to their deeds. ⁴
