And do not lead us into temptation, ¹  but deliver us from the evil one. ² 

But it is God who establishes ¹  us together with you in Christ and who anointed us, ² 

Is it right ¹  for us to pay the tribute tax ²  to Caesar ³  or not?”

These had gone on ahead ¹  and were waiting for us in Troas. ² 

But we must ¹  run aground on some island.”

Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ¹  ‘Fall on us!’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us!’ ² 

For ¹  he chose us in Christ ²  before the foundation of the world that we may be holy and unblemished ³  in his sight ⁴  in love. ⁵ 

By his sovereign plan he gave us birth ¹  through the message of truth, that we would be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

But Paul said to the police officers, ¹  “They had us beaten in public ²  without a proper trial ³  – even though we are Roman citizens ⁴  – and they threw us ⁵  in prison. And now they want to send us away ⁶  secretly? Absolutely not! They ⁷  themselves must come and escort us out!” ⁸ 

Then the demons begged him, ¹  “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”

Or is he not surely speaking for our benefit? It was written for us, because the one plowing and threshing ought to work in hope of enjoying the harvest.

that we should be saved ¹  from our enemies, ²  and from the hand of all who hate us.

Because of ¹  our God’s tender mercy ²  the dawn ³  will break ⁴  upon us from on high

raised their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy ¹  on us.”

Furthermore, some women of our group amazed us. ¹  They ²  were at the tomb early this morning,

Peter looked directly ¹  at him (as did John) and said, “Look at us!”

When we arrived in Jerusalem, the brothers welcomed us gladly. ¹ 

No, in all these things we have complete victory ¹  through him ²  who loved us!

even us, whom he has called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?

Receive one another, then, just as Christ also received you, to God’s glory.
