for they heard them speaking in tongues and praising ¹  God. Then Peter said,

I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you,

So then, brothers and sisters, ¹  be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid anyone from speaking in tongues. ² 

I wish you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets so that the church may be strengthened.

These signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; ¹ 

both Jews and proselytes, ¹  Cretans and Arabs – we hear them speaking in our own languages about the great deeds God has done!” ² 

“Their throats are open graves, ¹  they deceive with their tongues, the poison of asps is under their lips.” ² 

Not all have gifts of healing, do they? Not all speak in tongues, do they? Not all interpret, do they? ¹ 

Then ¹  they ²  told me: “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, ³  languages, and kings.”

All ¹  of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in other languages ²  as the Spirit enabled them. ³ 

and when Paul placed ¹  his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came ²  upon them, and they began to speak ³  in tongues and to prophesy. ⁴ 

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but I do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

So if the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and unbelievers or uninformed people enter, will they not say that you have lost your minds?

Now, brothers and sisters, ¹  if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I help you unless I speak to you with a revelation or with knowledge or prophecy or teaching?
