After they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. ¹ 

After instructing the crowd to sit down on the ground,

Then ¹  he bent over again and wrote on the ground.

Then his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “I will once more shake not only the earth but heaven too.” ¹ 

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

And the news of this spread throughout that region. ¹ 

Now from noon until three, ¹  darkness came over all the land. ² 

After they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret ¹  and anchored there.

So ¹  when they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed ²  him.

“I have come ¹  to bring ²  fire on the earth – and how I wish it were already kindled!

After ¹  he had destroyed ²  seven nations ³  in the land of Canaan, he gave his people their land as an inheritance. ⁴ 

So ¹  he got up and took the child and his mother and returned to the land of Israel.

“Do not think that I have come to bring ¹  peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.

But the one who had received one talent went out and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money in it.

Now ¹  when it was noon, ²  darkness came over the whole land ³  until three in the afternoon. ⁴ 

It is of no value ¹  for the soil or for the manure pile; it is to be thrown out. ²  The one who has ears to hear had better listen!” ³ 

But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tiny stroke of a letter ¹  in the law to become void. ² 

It was now ¹  about noon, ²  and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, ³ 

When they got out on the beach, ¹  they saw a charcoal fire ready ²  with a fish placed on it, and bread.

He ¹  fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, ²  why are you persecuting me?” ³
