“I will not abandon ¹  you as orphans, ²  I will come to you. ³ 

Until I come, give attention to the public reading of scripture, ¹  to exhortation, to teaching.

I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have so that no one can take away ¹  your crown. ² 

The one who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!

This is the third time I am coming to visit ¹  you. By the testimony ²  of two or three witnesses every matter will be established. ³ 

(Look! I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy expressed in this book.) ¹ 

(Look! I am coming soon, and my reward is with me to pay ¹  each one according to what he has done!

And he summoned ten of his slaves, ¹  gave them ten minas, ²  and said to them, ‘Do business with these until I come back.’

And if I go and make ready ¹  a place for you, I will come again and take you ²  to be with me, ³  so that where I am you may be too.

But now I am coming to you, and I am saying these things in the world, so they may experience ¹  my joy completed ²  in themselves.

Jesus replied, ¹  “If I want him to live ²  until I come back, ³  what concern is that of yours? You follow me!”

Therefore, ¹  repent! If not, I will come against you quickly and make war against those people ²  with the sword of my mouth.

(Look! I will come like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays alert and does not lose ¹  his clothes so that he will not have to walk around naked and his shameful condition ²  be seen.) ³ 

So ¹  he said to the worker who tended the vineyard, ‘For ²  three years ³  now, I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and each time I inspect it ⁴  I find none. Cut ⁵  it down! Why ⁶  should it continue to deplete ⁷  the soil?’

The sick man answered him, “Sir, ¹  I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up. While I am trying to get into the water, ²  someone else ³  goes down there ⁴  before me.”

You heard me say to you, ¹  ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad ²  that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am. ³ 

I ¹  am no longer in the world, but ²  they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them safe ³  in your name ⁴  that you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are one. ⁵ 

Therefore, remember from what high state ¹  you have fallen and repent! Do ²  the deeds you did at the first; ³  if not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place – that is, if you do not repent. ⁴ 

Jesus answered, ¹  “Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I am going. But you people ²  do not know where I came from or where I am going. ³ 

So the saying circulated ¹  among the brothers and sisters ²  that this disciple was not going to die. But Jesus did not say to him that he was not going to die, but rather, “If I want him to live ³  until I come back, ⁴  what concern is that of yours?”
