Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing their babies in those days!

In those days John the Baptist came into the wilderness ¹  of Judea proclaiming,

Now ¹  in those days a decree ²  went out from Caesar ³  Augustus ⁴  to register ⁵  all the empire ⁶  for taxes.

But those days are coming, and when the bridegroom is taken from them, ¹  at that time ²  they will fast.”

At that time ¹  she became sick ²  and died. When they had washed ³  her body, ⁴  they placed it in an upstairs room.

Now ¹  in those days Jesus came from Nazareth ²  in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan River. ³ 

In those days there was another large crowd with nothing to eat. So ¹  Jesus ²  called his disciples and said to them,

“But in those days, after that suffering, ¹  the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light;

where for forty days he endured temptations ¹  from the devil. He ²  ate nothing ³  during those days, and when they were completed, ⁴  he was famished.

After ¹  the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. So ²  they kept silent and told no one ³  at that time ⁴  anything of what they had seen.

Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing their babies in those days! For there will be great distress ¹  on the earth and wrath against this people.

Even on my servants, ¹  both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. ² 

At ¹  that time ²  they made an idol in the form of a calf, ³  brought ⁴  a sacrifice to the idol, and began rejoicing ⁵  in the works of their hands. ⁶ 

For in those days before the flood, people ¹  were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark.

In ¹  those days people ²  will seek death, but ³  will not be able to ⁴  find it; they will long to die, but death will flee from them.
