Now when Jesus saw a large crowd ¹  around him, he gave orders to go to the other side of the lake. ² 

Then ¹  they asked Jesus ²  to leave their region.

And they began to beg ¹  him not to order ²  them to depart into the abyss. ³ 

But when they had ordered them to go outside the council, ¹  they began to confer with one another,

and came ¹  and apologized to them. After ²  they brought them out, they asked them repeatedly ³  to leave the city.

Another ¹  of the ²  disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”

But he ¹  replied, “They don’t need to go. You ²  give them something to eat.”

But when he heard that Archelaus ¹  was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, ²  he was afraid to go there. After being warned in a dream, he went to the regions of Galilee.

From that time on ¹  Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem ²  and suffer ³  many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law, ⁴  and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off! It is better for you to enter into life crippled than to have ¹  two hands and go into hell, ²  to the unquenchable fire. ³ 

Then ¹  all the people of the Gerasenes ²  and the surrounding region ³  asked Jesus ⁴  to leave them alone, ⁵  for they were seized with great fear. ⁶  So ⁷  he got into the boat and left. ⁸
