So there was a division in the crowd ¹  because of Jesus. ² 

Another sharp division took place among the Jewish people ¹  because of these words.

For in the first place, when you come together as a church I hear there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it.

so that there may be no division in the body, but the members may have mutual concern for one another.

No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, because the patch will pull away from the garment and the tear will be worse.

Then some of the Pharisees began to say, ¹  “This man is not from God, because he does not observe ²  the Sabbath.” ³  But others said, “How can a man who is a sinner perform ⁴  such miraculous signs?” Thus there was a division ⁵  among them.

I urge you, brothers and sisters, ¹  by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to agree together, ²  to end your divisions, ³  and to be united by the same mind and purpose. ⁴
