Then what if you see the Son of Man ascending where he was before? ¹ 

And with this confidence I intended to come to you first so that you would get a second opportunity to see us, ¹ 

But you know it was because of a physical illness that I first proclaimed the gospel to you,

But remember the former days when you endured a harsh conflict of suffering after you were enlightened.

Like obedient children, do not comply with ¹  the evil urges you used to follow in your ignorance, ² 

Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus ¹  before and who was one of the rulers, ²  said, ³ 

even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor, and an arrogant ¹  man. But I was treated with mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief,

Therefore it remains for some to enter it, yet those to whom it was previously proclaimed did not enter because of disobedience.

Then the neighbors and the people who had seen him previously ¹  as a beggar began saying, ²  “Is this not the man ³  who used to sit and beg?”

He has no need to do every day what those priests do, to offer sacrifices first for their own sins and then for the sins of the people, since he did this in offering himself once for all.
