Five ¹  of the virgins ²  were foolish, and five were wise.

The ¹  one who had received the five talents came and brought five more, saying, ‘Sir, ²  you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.’

The one who had received five talents went off right away and put his money to work ¹  and gained five more.

So ¹  the king ²  said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’

They ¹  said to him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”

Do you still not understand? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up?

After some time ¹  his wife Elizabeth became pregnant, ²  and for five months she kept herself in seclusion. ³  She said, ⁴ 

Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? ¹  Yet not one of them is forgotten before God.

For from now on ¹  there will be five in one household divided, three against two and two against three.

Then ¹  the second one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has made five minas.’

for you have had five husbands, and the man you are living with ¹  now is not your husband. This you said truthfully!”

Now there is ¹  in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate ²  a pool called Bethzatha ³  in Aramaic, ⁴  which has five covered walkways. ⁵ 

But many of those who had listened to ¹  the message ²  believed, and the number of the men ³  came to about five thousand.

So Joseph sent a message ¹  and invited ²  his father Jacob and all his relatives to come, seventy-five people ³  in all.

To ¹  one he gave five talents, ²  to another two, and to another one, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.

He said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” When they found out, they said, “Five – and two fish.”

When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They replied, “Twelve.”

Another ¹  said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, ²  and I am going out ³  to examine them. Please excuse me.’

(for I have five brothers) to warn ¹  them so that they don’t come ²  into this place of torment.’

“Here is a boy who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what good ¹  are these for so many people?”
