For those who speak in such a way make it clear that they are seeking a homeland.

Now ¹  Jesus left that place and came to his hometown, ²  and his disciples followed him.

And he added, ¹  “I tell you the truth, ²  no prophet is acceptable ³  in his hometown.

(For Jesus himself had testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.) ¹ 

And so they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own house.”

Then ¹  he came to his hometown ²  and began to teach the people ³  in their synagogue. ⁴  They ⁵  were astonished and said, “Where did this man get such wisdom and miraculous powers?

Then ¹  Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown, and among his relatives, and in his own house.”

Jesus ¹  said to them, “No doubt you will quote to me the proverb, ‘Physician, heal yourself!’ ²  and say, ‘What we have heard that you did in Capernaum, ³  do here in your hometown too.’”
