The evildoer must continue to do evil, ¹  and the one who is morally filthy ²  must continue to be filthy. The ³  one who is righteous must continue to act righteously, and the one who is holy must continue to be holy.”

Now, brothers and sisters, ¹  if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? ²  In that case the offense of the cross ³  has been removed. ⁴ 

They will never go hungry or be thirsty again, and the sun will not beat down on them, nor any burning heat, ¹ 

And the sound of the harpists, musicians, flute players, and trumpeters will never be heard in you ¹  again. No ²  craftsman ³  who practices any trade will ever be found in you again; the noise of a mill ⁴  will never be heard in you again.

While he was still speaking, people came from the synagogue ruler’s ¹  house saying, “Your daughter has died. Why trouble the teacher any longer?”

The young man said to him, “I have wholeheartedly obeyed ¹  all these laws. ²  What do I still lack?”

If he cannot succeed, ¹  he will send a representative ²  while the other is still a long way off and ask for terms of peace. ³ 

“I have many more things to say to you, ¹  but you cannot bear ²  them now.

For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.

Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it?

You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who has ever resisted his will?”

I fed you milk, ¹  not solid food, for you were not yet ready. In fact, you are still not ready,

But you should be eager for the greater gifts. And now I will show you a way that is beyond comparison. ¹ 

Surely you recall ¹  that I used to tell you these things while I was still with you.

For he was still in his ancestor Abraham’s loins ¹  when Melchizedek met him.

And this is even clearer if another priest arises in the likeness of Melchizedek,

then he says, ¹  “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no longer.” ² 

For just a little longer ¹  and he who is coming will arrive and not delay. ² 

And others experienced mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment.

But ¹  the dragon was not strong enough to prevail, ²  so there was no longer any place left ³  in heaven for him and his angels. ⁴
