so that the godless man should not rule, and not lay snares for the people. ¹ 

For the company of the godless is barren, ¹  and fire ²  consumes the tents of those who accept bribes. ³ 

that the elation of the wicked is brief, ¹  the joy of the godless ²  lasts but a moment. ³ 

Such is the destiny ¹  of all who forget God; the hope of the godless ²  perishes,

Moreover, this will become my deliverance, for no godless person would come before him. ¹ 

For what hope does the godless have when he is cut off, ¹  when God takes away his life? ² 

The godless at heart ¹  nourish anger, ²  they do not cry out even when he binds them.

With his speech ¹  the godless person ²  destroys ³  his neighbor, but by knowledge ⁴  the righteous will be delivered.

Upright men are appalled ¹  at this; the innocent man is troubled ²  with the godless.

And see to it that no one becomes ¹  an immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal. ² 

I sent him ¹  against a godless ²  nation, I ordered him to attack the people with whom I was angry, ³  to take plunder and to carry away loot, to trample them down ⁴  like dirt in the streets.

But reject those myths ¹  fit only for the godless and gullible, ²  and train yourself for godliness.

Sinners are afraid in Zion; panic ¹  grips the godless. ²  They say, ³  ‘Who among us can coexist with destructive fire? Who among us can coexist with unquenchable ⁴  fire?’

But evil people are like thorns – all of them are tossed away, for they cannot be held in the hand.

And if the righteous are barely saved, what will become of ¹  the ungodly and sinners? ² 

The arrogant dig pits to trap me, ¹  which violates your law. ² 

Guarantee the welfare of your servant! ¹  Do not let the arrogant oppress me!

But avoid profane chatter, ¹  because those occupied with it will stray further and further into ungodliness, ² 

O Timothy, protect what has been entrusted to you. Avoid ¹  the profane chatter and absurdities ²  of so-called “knowledge.” ³ 

It trains us ¹  to reject godless ways ²  and worldly desires and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,
