Get up, make your way across Wadi Arnon. Look! I have already delivered over to you Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, ¹  and his land. Go ahead! Take it! Engage him in war!

They will eat, but not be satisfied; they will engage in prostitution, but not increase in numbers; because they have abandoned the Lord by pursuing other gods. ¹ 

Here is another way that our people ¹  can learn ²  to engage in good works to meet pressing needs and so not be unfruitful.

The businessmen love to cheat; ¹  they use dishonest scales. ² 

and with cutting and setting stone, and with cutting wood, to work in all kinds of craftsmanship.

and in cutting stones for their setting, ¹  and in cutting wood, to do work in every artistic craft. ² 

As you move forward for battle, the priest ¹  will approach and say to the soldiers, ² 

If it does not accept terms of peace but makes war with you, then you are to lay siege to it.

Cut sharply on the right! Swing to ¹  the left, wherever your edge ²  is appointed to strike.

You rely ¹  on your swords and commit abominable deeds; each of you defiles his neighbor’s wife. Will you possess the land?’

They consume their alcohol, then engage in cult prostitution; they dearly love their shameful behavior.

Whoever is not with me is against me, ¹  and whoever does not gather with me scatters. ²
