They no longer sing and drink wine; ¹  the beer tastes bitter to those who drink it.

“Drink, my lord,” she replied, and quickly lowering ¹  her jug to her hands, she gave him a drink.

Now be careful! Do not drink wine or beer, and do not eat any food that will make you ritually unclean. ¹ 

and offered Jesus ¹  wine mixed with gall to drink. ²  But after tasting it, he would not drink it.

So the people murmured ¹  against Moses, saying, “What can ²  we drink?”

He turned their rivers into blood, and they could not drink from their streams.

For I eat ashes as if they were bread, ¹  and mix my drink with my tears, ² 

For they eat bread ¹  gained from wickedness ²  and drink wine obtained from violence. ³ 

Drink water from your own cistern and running water from your own well. ¹ 

For my flesh is true ¹  food, and my blood is true ²  drink.

“‘And its drink offering must be one quarter of a hin for each lamb. ¹  You must pour out the strong drink ²  as a drink offering to the Lord in the holy place.

For the Lord says, “If even those who did not deserve to drink from the cup of my wrath must drink from it, do you think you will go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, but must certainly drink from the cup of my wrath. ¹ 

Do I eat the flesh of bulls? Do I drink the blood of goats? ¹ 

let them ¹  drink and forget ²  their poverty, and remember their misery no more.

No priest may drink wine when he enters the inner court.

All the Egyptians dug around the Nile for water to drink, ¹  because they could not drink the water of the Nile.

And now when you eat and drink, are you not doing so for yourselves?’”

“Come, eat ¹  some of my food, and drink some of the wine I have mixed. ²
