They do one act of violence after another, and one deceitful thing after another. ¹  They refuse to pay attention to me,” ²  says the Lord.

If ¹  I have walked in falsehood, and if ²  my foot has hastened ³  to deceit –

adultery, greed, evil, deceit, debauchery, envy, slander, pride, and folly.

my ¹  lips will not speak wickedness, and my tongue will whisper ²  no deceit.

They conceive ¹  trouble and bring forth evil; their belly ²  prepares deception.”

You do damage with words, ¹  and use your tongue to deceive. ² 

The faithful witness ¹  tells what is right, ²  but a false witness ³  speaks ⁴  deceit.

Bread gained by deceit ¹  tastes sweet to a person, ²  but afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel. ³ 

He ¹  committed no sin nor was deceit found in his mouth. ² 

Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil, ¹  but those who promote peace ²  have joy.

The one who hates others disguises ¹  it with his lips, but he stores up ²  deceit within him. ³ 

His mouth is full of curses and deceptive, harmful words; ¹  his tongue injures and destroys. ² 

How blessed is the one ¹  whose wrongdoing the Lord does not punish, ²  in whose spirit there is no deceit. ³ 

For the appeal we make ¹  does not come ²  from error or impurity or with deceit,

Then make sure you don’t speak evil words ¹  or use deceptive speech! ² 

(12:1) ¹  Ephraim has surrounded me with lies; the house of Israel has surrounded me ²  with deceit. But Judah still roams about with ³  God; he remains faithful to the Holy One.

So get rid of ¹  all evil and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.

They are filled ¹  with every kind of unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, malice. They are rife with ²  envy, murder, strife, deceit, hostility. They are gossips,

Disaster is within it; violence ¹  and deceit do not depart from its public square.

The words he speaks are sinful and deceitful; he does not care about doing what is wise and right. ¹
