When your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ ¹  –

When you enter the land that the Lord will give to you, just as he said, you must observe ¹  this ceremony.

So Isaac ¹  held a feast for them and they celebrated. ² 

David ¹  assembled all the leaders of Israel, along with the priests and the Levites.

Therefore what advantage does the Jew have, or what is the value of circumcision?

¹ “Now this is what ²  you are to do for them to consecrate them so that they may minister as my priests. Take a young ³  bull and two rams without blemish; ⁴ 

“You are to take the ram of the consecration and cook ¹  its meat in a holy place. ² 

On the eighth day ¹  Moses summoned ²  Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel,

For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision something that is outward in the flesh,

It will be for a sign on your hand and for frontlets ¹  on your forehead, for with a mighty hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt.” ² 

“Thus you are to do for Aaron and for his sons, according to all that I have commanded you; you are to consecrate them ¹  for ²  seven days.

The law is the same for the sin offering and the guilt offering; ¹  it belongs to the priest who makes atonement with it.

then the priest will command that two live clean birds, a piece of cedar wood, a scrap of crimson fabric, ¹  and some twigs of hyssop ²  be taken up ³  for the one being cleansed. ⁴ 

“On the eighth day he must bring them for his purification to the priest at the entrance ¹  of the Meeting Tent before the Lord,

This is the law of the one in whom there is a diseased infection, ¹  who does not have sufficient means for his purification.” ² 

On the eighth day they held an assembly, for they had dedicated the altar for seven days and celebrated the festival for seven more days.

everyone who has determined to follow God, ¹  the Lord God of his ancestors, even if he is not ceremonially clean according to the standards of the temple.” ² 

When you have finished purifying it, you will offer an unblemished young bull and an unblemished ram from the flock.

On ¹  the eighth day ²  they came to circumcise the child, and they wanted to name ³  him Zechariah after his father.

Now the Jewish feast of Passover ¹  was near, and many people went up to Jerusalem ²  from the rural areas before the Passover to cleanse themselves ritually. ³
