So come on, let’s go ahead and attack it by night and destroy all its fortified buildings.’

So David asked the Lord, “Should I go and strike down these Philistines?” The Lord said to David, “Go, strike down the Philistines and deliver Keilah.”

“Bring trouble ¹  to the Midianites, and destroy them,

Distress and anguish ¹  terrify him; they prevail against him like a king ready to launch an attack, ² 

They surround me and say hateful things; ¹  they attack me for no reason.

“Come to my aid ¹  so we can attack Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua and the Israelites.”

They will say, ¹  ‘Prepare to do battle ²  against it! Come on! Let’s attack it at noon!’ But later they will say, ³  ‘Oh, oh! Too bad! ⁴  The day is almost over and the shadows of evening are getting long.

But if you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with Purah your servant

When you approach a city to wage war against it, offer it terms of peace.
