the Spirit and the water and the blood, and these three are in agreement.

Your treaty with death will be dissolved; ¹  your agreement ²  with Sheol will not last. ³  When the overwhelming judgment sweeps by, ⁴  you will be overrun by it. ⁵ 

The ¹  words of the prophets agree ²  with this, as it is written,

Then those officials who had gone to the king ¹  came by collusion and found Daniel praying and asking for help before his God.

And what agreement does Christ have with Beliar? ¹  Or what does a believer share in common with an unbeliever?

And what mutual agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we are ¹  the temple of the living God, just as God said, “I will live in them ²  and will walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” ³ 

“I made a covenant with ¹  my eyes; how then could I entertain thoughts against a virgin? ² 

Will it make a pact ¹  with you, so you could take it ²  as your slave for life?

For you say, “We have made a treaty with death, with Sheol ¹  we have made an agreement. ²  When the overwhelming judgment sweeps by ³  it will not reach us. For we have made a lie our refuge, we have hidden ourselves in a deceitful word.” ⁴ 

And this is my covenant with them, ¹  when I take away their sins.” ² 

accordingly Jesus has become the guarantee ¹  of a better covenant.

and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that God has commanded you to keep.” ¹ 

If someone spreads false teachings ¹  and does not agree with sound words (that is, those of our Lord Jesus Christ) and with the teaching that accords with godliness,

When he speaks of a new covenant, ¹  he makes the first obsolete. Now what is growing obsolete and aging is about to disappear. ² 

Then Abner sent messengers ¹  to David saying, “To whom does the land belong? Make an agreement ²  with me, and I will do whatever I can ³  to cause all Israel to turn to you.”

(10:1) ¹  “Because of all of this we are entering into a binding covenant ²  in written form; ³  our leaders, our Levites, and our priests have affixed their names ⁴  on the sealed document.”

Yet even on this point their testimony did not agree.

And so he is the mediator ¹  of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the eternal inheritance he has promised, ²  since he died ³  to set them free from the violations committed under the first covenant.

You must never forget the agreement I made with you, and you must not worship other gods.

He ¹  attacks ²  his friends; ³  he breaks his solemn promises to them. ⁴
