Then ¹  he said to them, “Do you still not understand?” ² 

Evil people ¹  do not understand justice, ²  but those who seek the Lord ³  understand it all.

He said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? Then ¹  how will you understand any parable?

Jesus replied, ¹  “You do not understand ²  what I am doing now, but you will understand ³  after these things.”

Who can understand the spreading of the clouds, the thunderings of his pavilion? ¹ 

The spiritually insensitive do not recognize this; the fool does not understand this. ¹ 

Then you will understand ¹  righteousness and justice and equity – every ²  good ³  way. ⁴ 

There are three things that are too wonderful for me, ¹  four that I do not understand:

then you will understand ¹  how to fear the Lord, ²  and you will discover ³  knowledge ⁴  about God. ⁵ 

Then he called the crowd to him and said, ¹  “Listen and understand.

Then he opened their minds so they could understand the scriptures, ¹ 

Help me to understand what your precepts mean! ¹  Then I can meditate ²  on your marvelous teachings. ³ 

For we do not write you anything other than what ¹  you can read and also understand. But I hope that you will understand completely ² 

Many will be purified, made clean, and refined, but the wicked will go on being wicked. None of the wicked will understand, though the wise will understand.

When I tried to make sense of this, it was troubling to me. ¹ 

Take notice of this, ¹  you ignorant people! ²  You fools, when will you ever understand?

But they did not understand this statement and were afraid to ask him.

Yet ¹  his parents ²  did not understand ³  the remark ⁴  he made ⁵  to them.

(They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father.) ¹ 

For this reason do not be foolish, but be wise ¹  by understanding ²  what the Lord’s will is.
