When Azubah died, Caleb married ¹  Ephrath, who bore him Hur.

Caleb’s concubine Maacah bore Sheber and Tirhanah.

except Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua son of Nun, for they followed the Lord wholeheartedly.’

These are the names of the men: from the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;

Joshua asked God to empower Caleb son of Jephunneh and assigned him Hebron. ¹ 

Caleb drove out ¹  from there three Anakites – Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, descendants of Anak.

(Now the city’s fields and surrounding towns they had assigned to Caleb son of Jephunneh as his property.)

Caleb’s concubine ¹  Ephah bore Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez.

These were the descendants of Caleb. The sons ¹  of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrath: ²  Shobal, the father of Kiriath Jearim,

The sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam. The son of Elah: Kenaz. ¹ 

(But the city’s land and nearby towns were allotted to Caleb son of Jephunneh.)

When Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s brother, ¹  captured it, Caleb ²  gave Acsah his daughter to him as a wife.

When Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, ¹  captured it, Caleb ²  gave him his daughter Acsah as a wife.

Caleb received ¹  Hebron, just as Moses had promised. He drove out the three Anakites.

The sons of Caleb, Jerahmeel’s brother: His firstborn Mesha, the father of Ziph, and his second son Mareshah, ¹  the father of Hebron.

She also bore Shaaph the father of Madmannah and Sheva the father of Machbenah and Gibea. Caleb’s daughter was Achsah.

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses, saying, “Let us go up ¹  and occupy it, ²  for we are well able to conquer it.” ³ 

And Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, two of those who had investigated the land, tore their garments.

But Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among ¹  the men who went to investigate the land, lived.
