And so they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own house.”

Now when Jesus heard this he went away from there privately in a boat to an isolated place. But when the crowd heard about it, ¹  they followed him on foot from the towns. ² 

When he left there, Jesus went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up a mountain, where he sat down.

Six days later ¹  Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John the brother of James, ²  and led them privately up a high mountain.

Then ¹  Jesus rebuked ²  the demon and it came out of him, and the boy was healed from that moment.

When ¹  they gathered together in Galilee, Jesus told them, “The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. ² 

“Which ones?” he asked. Jesus replied, “Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, ¹  it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven!

As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, ¹  he took the twelve ²  aside privately and said to them on the way,

But Jesus called them and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in high positions use their authority over them.

Two ¹  blind men were sitting by the road. When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they shouted, ²  “Have mercy ³  on us, Lord, Son of David!” ⁴ 

Now ¹  when they approached Jerusalem ²  and came to Bethphage, ³  at the Mount of Olives, ⁴  Jesus sent two disciples,

Jesus ¹  answered them, “You are deceived, ²  because you don’t know the scriptures or the power of God.

Now ¹  as Jesus was going out of the temple courts and walking away, his disciples came to show him the temple buildings. ² 

When ¹  Jesus learned of this, he said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She ²  has done a good service for me.

Jesus said to him, “I tell you the truth, ¹  on this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”

Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”

Jesus ¹  said to him, “Friend, do what you are here to do.” Then they came and took hold ²  of Jesus and arrested him.

Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back in its place! ¹  For all who take hold of the sword will die by the sword.

Above ¹  his head they put the charge against him, ²  which read: ³  “This is Jesus, the king of the Jews.”
