Other ¹  seeds fell on rocky ground ²  where they did not have much soil. They sprang up quickly because the soil was not deep. ³ 

Meanwhile the boat, already far from land, ¹  was taking a beating from the waves because the wind was against it.

just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom ¹  for many.”

(They ¹  came out of the tombs after his resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.)

Many ¹  women who had followed Jesus from Galilee and given him support ²  were also there, watching from a distance.

Then ¹  Jesus went away with his disciples to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee followed him. ²  And from Judea,

Jerusalem, ¹  Idumea, beyond the Jordan River, ²  and around Tyre ³  and Sidon ⁴  a great multitude came to him when they heard about the things he had done.

When Jesus had crossed again in a boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around him, and he was by the sea.

He asked him urgently, “My little daughter is near death. Come and lay your hands on her so that she may be healed and live.”

But many saw them leaving and recognized them, and they hurried on foot ¹  from all the towns ²  and arrived there ahead of them. ³ 

And when they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash. They hold fast to many other traditions: the washing of cups, pots, kettles, and dining couches. ¹ ) ² 

In those days there was another large crowd with nothing to eat. So ¹  Jesus ²  called his disciples and said to them,

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom ¹  for many.”

If David himself calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?” ¹  And the large crowd was listening to him with delight.

When he was in Galilee, they had followed him and given him support. ¹  Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem ²  were there too.

There was also a prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old, ¹  having been married to her husband for seven years until his death.

And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, ¹  yet ²  none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.” ³ 

But the news about him spread even more, ¹  and large crowds were gathering together to hear him ²  and to be healed of their illnesses.

Then ¹  Levi gave a great banquet ²  in his house for Jesus, ³  and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others sitting ⁴  at the table with them.
