So Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, that looks toward the wilderness. ¹ 

Written by the Korahites; a psalm, a song. The Lord’s city is in the holy hills. ² 

So they traveled from the mountain of the Lord three days’ journey; ¹  and the ark of the covenant of the Lord was traveling before them during the three days’ journey, to find a resting place for them.

So he got up and ate and drank. That meal gave him the strength to travel forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.

Even if Babylon climbs high into the sky ¹  and fortifies her elevated stronghold, ²  I will send destroyers against her,” ³  says the Lord. ⁴

This is the account of Esau, the father ¹  of the Edomites, in the hill country of Seir.

The Lord our God spoke to us at Horeb and said, “You have stayed ¹  in the area of this mountain long enough.

The Lord spoke face to face with you at the mountain, from the middle of the fire.

He makes Lebanon skip like a calf and Sirion ¹  like a young ox. ² 

A song of ascents. ²  I look up ³  toward the hills. From where ⁴  does my help come?
