I say, ¹  “I wish I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and settle in a safe place!

I said, ¹  ‘Listen, my people! I will warn ²  you! O Israel, if only you would obey me! ³ 

If the Lord had not helped me, I would have laid down in the silence of death. ¹ 

He blessed ¹  them so that they became very numerous. He would not allow their cattle to decrease in number. ² 

He would pour ¹  contempt upon princes, and he made them wander in a wasteland with no road.

He announced that he would do mighty deeds for his people, giving them a land that belonged to other nations. ¹ 

I considered all the living who walk on earth, ¹  as well as the successor ²  who would arise ³  in his place.

Not even Lebanon could supply enough firewood for a sacrifice; ¹  its wild animals would not provide enough burnt offerings. ² 

Who would have believed ¹  what we ²  just heard? ³  When ⁴  was the Lord’s power ⁵  revealed through him?

Jeremiah recorded ¹  on one scroll all the judgments ²  that would come upon Babylon – all these prophecies ³  written about Babylon.

When they moved they would go in any of the four directions they faced without turning as they moved.

I thought ¹  I had been banished from your sight, ²  that I would never again ³  see your holy temple! ⁴ 

So the servant placed his hand under the thigh of his master Abraham and gave his solemn promise he would carry out his wishes. ¹ 

He made the camels kneel down by the well ¹  outside the city. It was evening, ²  the time when the women would go out to draw water.

They said to them, “We cannot give ¹  our sister to a man who is not circumcised, for it would be a disgrace ²  to us.

For by now I could have stretched out ¹  my hand and struck you and your people with plague, and you would have been destroyed ²  from the earth.

So now, forgive my sin this time only, and pray to the Lord your God that he would only ¹  take this death ²  away from me.”

So they gathered it each morning, ¹  each person according to what he could eat, and when the sun got hot, it would melt. ² 

Whenever they entered ¹  the tent of meeting, and whenever they approached ²  the altar, they would wash, ³  just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

but if the cloud was not lifted up, then they would not journey further until the day it was lifted up. ¹
