You must not take a woman in marriage and then marry her sister as a rival wife ¹  while she is still alive, ²  to have sexual intercourse with her.

If a man ¹  commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, ²  both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.

If a man has sexual intercourse with ¹  his brother’s wife, it is indecency. He has exposed his brother’s nakedness; ²  they will be childless.

He must not marry ¹  a widow, a divorced woman, or one profaned by prostitution; he may only take a virgin from his people ²  as a wife.

So David went up, along with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelite and Abigail, formerly the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.

His sixth son was Ithream, born to David’s wife Eglah. These sons ¹  were all born to David in Hebron.
