They may observe it on the fourteenth day of the second month ¹  at twilight; they are to eat it with bread made without yeast and with bitter herbs.

¹ Now the mixed multitude ²  who were among them craved more desirable foods, ³  and so the Israelites wept again ⁴  and said, “If only we had meat to eat! ⁵ 

We remember ¹  the fish we used to eat ²  freely ³  in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic.

From where shall I get ¹  meat to give to this entire people, for they cry to me, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat!’ ² 

Moses said, “The people around me ¹  are 600,000 on foot; ²  but you say, ‘I will give them meat, ³  that they may eat ⁴  for a whole month.’

And whatever first ripe fruit in their land they bring to the Lord will be yours; everyone who is ceremonially clean in your household may eat of it.

And you may ¹  eat it in any place, you and your household, because it is your wages for your service in the tent of meeting.

Sell me food for cash ¹  so that I can eat and sell me water to drink. ²  Just allow me to go through on foot,

You will eat your fill and then praise the Lord your God because of the good land he has given you.

You must cook ¹  and eat it in the place the Lord your God chooses; you may return the next morning to your tents.

He must eat the same share they do, despite any profits he may gain from the sale of his family’s inheritance. ¹ 

When you enter the vineyard of your neighbor you may eat as many grapes as you please, ¹  but you must not take away any in a container. ² 

You will plant vineyards and cultivate them, but you will not drink wine or gather in grapes, because worms will eat them.

Now be careful! Do not drink wine or beer, and do not eat any food that will make you ritually unclean. ¹ 

Manoah said to the Lord’s messenger, “Please stay here awhile, ¹  so we can prepare a young goat for you to eat.” ² 

She said, “May I, your servant, find favor in your sight.” So the woman went her way and got something to eat. ¹  Her face no longer looked sad.

Then they found an Egyptian in the field and brought him to David. They gave him bread to eat and water to drink.

The elders of his house stood over him and tried to lift him from the ground, but he was unwilling, and refused to eat food with them.

But when she took the pan and set it before him, he refused to eat. Instead Amnon said, “Get everyone out of here!” ¹  So everyone left. ² 

As she brought them to him to eat, he grabbed her and said to her, “Come on! Get in bed with me, ¹  my sister!”
