For as the skies are high above the earth, so his loyal love towers ¹  over his faithful followers. ² 

For your loyal love extends beyond the sky, ¹  and your faithfulness reaches the clouds.

Rise up ¹  above the sky, O God! May your splendor cover the whole earth! ² 

He does whatever he pleases in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all the ocean depths.

the one who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who remains forever faithful, ¹ 

He covers ¹  the sky with clouds, provides the earth with rain, and causes grass to grow on the hillsides. ² 

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the sky! Praise him in the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty extends over the earth and sky.

When he established the heavens, I was there; when he marked out the horizon ¹  over the face of the deep,

They come from a distant land, from the horizon. ¹  It is the Lord with his instruments of judgment, ²  coming to destroy the whole earth. ³ 

Look how you have fallen from the sky, O shining one, son of the dawn! ¹  You have been cut down to the ground, O conqueror ²  of the nations! ³ 

He says, ¹  “Indeed, my sword has slaughtered heavenly powers. ²  Look, it now descends on Edom, ³  on the people I will annihilate in judgment.”

He is the one who sits on the earth’s horizon; ¹  its inhabitants are like grasshoppers before him. ²  He is the one who stretches out the sky like a thin curtain, ³  and spreads it out ⁴  like a pitched tent. ⁵ 

Yes, my hand founded the earth; my right hand spread out the sky. I summon them; they stand together.

for just as the sky ¹  is higher than the earth, so my deeds ²  are superior to ³  your deeds and my plans ⁴  superior to your plans.

Be amazed at this, O heavens! ¹  Be shocked and utterly dumbfounded,” says the Lord.

“I looked at the land and saw ¹  that it was an empty wasteland. ²  I looked up at the sky, and its light had vanished.

Then the dead bodies of these people will be left on the ground for the birds and wild animals to eat. ¹  There will not be any survivors to scare them away.

The Lord is the one who ¹  by his power made the earth. He is the one who by his wisdom established the world. And by his understanding he spread out the skies.

He is the one who ¹  by his power made the earth. He is the one who by his wisdom fixed the world in place, by his understanding he spread out the heavens.
