If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it ¹  and will send it back here soon.’”

I tell you the truth, ¹  wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

But Peter ¹  insisted emphatically, ²  “Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you.” And all of them said the same thing.

And ¹  if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even ²  sinners ³  do the same.

And if you lend to those from whom you hope to be repaid, ¹  what credit is that to you? Even sinners ²  lend to sinners, so that they may be repaid in full. ³ 

And if a peace-loving person ¹  is there, your peace will remain on him, but if not, it will return to you. ² 

He ¹  replied to him, ‘If they do not respond to ²  Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’” ³ 

Even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times returns to you saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive ¹  him.”

So ¹  they discussed it with one another, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why did you not believe him?’

But if we say, ‘From people,’ all the people will stone us, because they are convinced that John was a prophet.”

and said, “If ¹  you are the Christ, ²  tell us.” But he said to them, “If ³  I tell you, you will not ⁴  believe,

Jesus replied, ¹  “I tell you the solemn truth, ²  unless a person is born from above, ³  he cannot see the kingdom of God.” ⁴ 

John replied, ¹  “No one can receive anything unless it has been given to him from heaven.

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, ¹  and I will raise him up at the last day.

So Jesus added, ¹  “Because of this I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has allowed him to come.” ² 

If anyone wants to do God’s will, ¹  he will know about my teaching, whether it is from God or whether I speak from my own authority. ² 

“Our law doesn’t condemn ¹  a man unless it first hears from him and learns ²  what he is doing, does it?” ³ 

But if I judge, my evaluation is accurate, ¹  because I am not alone when I judge, ²  but I and the Father who sent me do so together. ³ 

Thus I told you ¹  that you will die in your sins. For unless you believe that I am he, ²  you will die in your sins.”

Then Jesus said to those Judeans ¹  who had believed him, “If you continue to follow my teaching, ²  you are really ³  my disciples
