But the news about him spread even more, ¹  and large crowds were gathering together to hear him ²  and to be healed of their illnesses.

“Everyone who comes to me and listens to my words and puts them into practice ¹  – I will show you what he is like:

But as for the seed that landed on good soil, these are the ones who, after hearing ¹  the word, cling to it ²  with an honest and good ³  heart, and bear fruit with steadfast endurance. ⁴ 

But he replied ¹  to them, “My mother and my brothers are those ²  who hear the word of God and do it.” ³ 

Now ¹  about eight days ²  after these sayings, Jesus ³  took with him Peter, John, and James, and went up the mountain to pray.

“Take these words to heart, ¹  for the Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men.” ² 

She ¹  had a sister named Mary, who sat ²  at the Lord’s feet ³  and listened to what he said.

And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the person who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit ¹  will not be forgiven. ² 

Now ¹  the Word became flesh ²  and took up residence ³  among us. We ⁴  saw his glory – the glory of the one and only, ⁵  full of grace and truth, who came from the Father.

nor do you have his word residing in you, because you do not believe the one whom he sent.

Then many of his disciples, when they heard these things, ¹  said, “This is a difficult ²  saying! ³  Who can understand it?” ⁴ 

Then Jesus said to those Judeans ¹  who had believed him, “If you continue to follow my teaching, ²  you are really ³  my disciples

I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. ¹  But you want ²  to kill me, because my teaching ³  makes no progress among you. ⁴ 

I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  if anyone obeys ²  my teaching, ³  he will never see death.” ⁴ 

If those people to whom the word of God came were called ‘gods’ (and the scripture cannot be broken), ¹ 

so that the word ¹  of Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled. He said, ²  “Lord, who has believed our message, and to whom has the arm of the Lord ³  been revealed?” ⁴ 

When Pilate heard these words he brought Jesus outside and sat down on the judgment seat ¹  in the place called “The Stone Pavement” ²  (Gabbatha in ³  Aramaic). ⁴ 

With many other words he testified ¹  and exhorted them saying, “Save yourselves from this perverse ²  generation!”

And now, Lord, pay attention to ¹  their threats, and grant ²  to your servants ³  to speak your message ⁴  with great courage, ⁵ 

When Ananias heard these words he collapsed and died, and great fear gripped ¹  all who heard about it.
