by making ¹  your ear ²  attentive to wisdom, and ³  by turning ⁴  your heart ⁵  to understanding,

For wisdom will enter your heart, ¹  and moral knowledge ²  will be attractive ³  to you. ⁴ 

Blessed ¹  is the one ²  who finds ³  wisdom, and the one who obtains ⁴  understanding.

She is more precious than rubies, and none of the things ¹  you desire ²  can compare ³  with her. ⁴ 

for one who goes astray ¹  is an abomination ²  to the Lord, but he reveals ³  his intimate counsel ⁴  to the upright.

Acquire wisdom, acquire understanding; do not forget and do not turn aside from the words I speak. ¹ 

I will guide you ¹  in the way of wisdom and I will lead you in upright paths. ² 

For the ways of a person ¹  are in front of the Lord’s eyes, and the Lord ²  weighs ³  all that person’s ⁴  paths.

For wisdom is better than rubies, and desirable things cannot be compared ¹  to her.

The Lord satisfies ¹  the appetite ²  of the righteous, but he thwarts ³  the craving ⁴  of the wicked.

Blessings ¹  are on the head of the righteous, but the speech ²  of the wicked conceals ³  violence. ⁴ 

The teaching ¹  of the righteous is a fountain of life, ²  but the speech ³  of the wicked conceals ⁴  violence. ⁵ 

What the righteous say ¹  is like ²  the best ³  silver, but what the wicked think ⁴  is of little value. ⁵ 

Carrying out a wicked scheme ¹  is enjoyable ²  to a fool, and so is wisdom for the one who has discernment. ³ 

When the storm ¹  passes through, the wicked are swept away, ²  but the righteous are an everlasting foundation. ³ 

The hope ¹  of the righteous is joy, but the expectation of the wicked will remain unfulfilled. ² 

The lips of the righteous know ¹  what is pleasing, ²  but the speech ³  of the wicked is perverse.

The righteousness of the blameless will make straight their way, ¹  but the wicked person will fall by his own wickedness. ² 

When the righteous do well, ¹  the city rejoices; ²  when the wicked perish, there is joy.

The wicked person ¹  earns ²  deceitful wages, ³  but the one who sows ⁴  righteousness reaps ⁵  a genuine ⁶  reward. ⁷
