so that there may be no division in the body, but the members may have mutual concern for one another.

the women ¹  should be silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak. ²  Rather, let them be in submission, as in fact the law says.

But if anyone has caused sadness, he has not saddened me alone, but to some extent (not to exaggerate) ¹  he has saddened all of you as well.

For even when we came into Macedonia, our body ¹  had no rest at all, but we were troubled in every way – struggles from the outside, fears from within.

Thus ¹  we urged ²  Titus that, just as he had previously begun this work, ³  so also he should complete this act of kindness ⁴  for you.

It was he ¹  who gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, ² 

But practicing the truth in love, ¹  we will in all things grow up into Christ, who is the head.

From Paul ¹  and Timothy, slaves ²  of Christ Jesus, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, ³  with the overseers ⁴  and deacons.

But if anyone does not obey our message through this letter, take note of him and do not associate closely with him, so that he may be ashamed.

He must not be a recent convert or he may become arrogant ¹  and fall into the punishment that the devil will exact. ² 

Deacons likewise must be dignified, ¹  not two-faced, ²  not given to excessive drinking, ³  not greedy for gain,

Let no one look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in your speech, conduct, love, faithfulness, ¹  and purity.

Everyone with me greets you. Greet those who love us in the faith. ¹  Grace be with you all. ² 

And do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, ¹  for God is pleased with such sacrifices.

For if someone ¹  comes into your assembly ²  wearing a gold ring and fine clothing, and a poor person enters in filthy clothes,

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers and sisters, ¹  because you know that we will be judged more strictly. ² 

So ¹  the beast ²  opened his mouth to blaspheme against God – to blaspheme both his name and his dwelling place, ³  that is, those who dwell in heaven.

I went there ¹  because of ²  a revelation and presented ³  to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. But I did so ⁴  only in a private meeting with the influential people, ⁵  to make sure that I was not running – or had not run ⁶  – in vain.

“Beware ¹  of the experts in the law. ²  They ³  like walking around in long robes, and they love elaborate greetings ⁴  in the marketplaces and the best seats ⁵  in the synagogues ⁶  and the places of honor at banquets.

Since we have heard that some have gone out from among us with no orders from us and have confused ¹  you, upsetting ²  your minds ³  by what they said, ⁴
