I said, “I will remember God while I groan; I will think about him while my strength leaves me.” ¹  (Selah)

I said, “During the night I will remember the song I once sang; I will think very carefully.” I tried to make sense of what was happening. ¹ 

Help me to understand what your precepts mean! ¹  Then I can meditate ²  on your marvelous teachings. ³ 

You despise ¹  all who stray from your statutes, for they are deceptive and unreliable. ² 

I will focus on your honor and majestic splendor, and your amazing deeds! ¹ 

The backslider ¹  will be paid back ²  from his own ways, but a good person will be rewarded ³  for his.

All the days ¹  of the afflicted ²  are bad, ³  but one with ⁴  a cheerful heart has a continual feast. ⁵ 

All a person’s ways ¹  seem right ²  in his own opinion, ³  but the Lord evaluates ⁴  the motives. ⁵ 

The wealth ¹  of a rich person is like ²  a strong city, ³  and it is like a high wall in his imagination. ⁴ 

I have examined all this by wisdom; I said, “I am determined ¹  to comprehend this” ²  – but it was beyond my grasp. ³ 

At the beginning his words ¹  are foolish and at the end ²  his talk ³  is wicked madness, ⁴ 

¹ I was beside myself with joy! ²  There please give me your myrrh, ³  O daughter of my princely people. ⁴ 

You keep completely safe the people who maintain their faith, for they trust in you. ¹ 

“‘Therefore this is what the sovereign Lord says: Because you think you are godlike, ¹ 

So ¹  Jesus answered him, ²  “Simon, I have something to say to you.” He replied, ³  “Say it, Teacher.”

For all the nations of the world pursue ¹  these things, and your Father knows that you need them.

Then ¹  he said to them, “Why are you frightened, ²  and why do doubts ³  arise in your hearts?

Now the works of the flesh ¹  are obvious: ²  sexual immorality, impurity, depravity,

For here he is! He ¹  formed the mountains and created the wind. He reveals ²  his plans ³  to men. He turns the dawn into darkness ⁴  and marches on the heights of the earth. The Lord, the God who commands armies, ⁵  is his name!”

Then Abraham asked, “Since I have undertaken to speak to the Lord ¹  (although I am but dust and ashes), ²
