So the sisters sent a message ¹  to Jesus, ²  “Lord, look, the one you love is sick.”

because you will be his witness ¹  to all people ²  of what you have seen and heard.

by truthful ¹  teaching, ²  by the power of God, with weapons of righteousness both for the right hand and for the left, ³ 

Listen! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you at all!

One of you must go and get ¹  your brother, while ²  the rest of you remain in prison. ³  In this way your words may be tested to see if ⁴  you are telling the truth. ⁵  If not, then, as surely as Pharaoh lives, you are spies!”

I sent them to Iddo, who was the leader in the place called Casiphia. I told them ¹  what to say to Iddo and his relatives, ²  who were the temple servants in ³  Casiphia, so they would bring us attendants for the temple of our God.

When his master heard his wife say, ¹  “This is the way ²  your slave treated me,” ³  he became furious. ⁴ 

But you must bring ¹  your youngest brother to me. Then ²  your words will be verified ³  and you will not die.” They did as he said. ⁴ 

You and my brother Benjamin can certainly see with your own eyes that I really am the one who speaks to you. ¹ 

He ¹  will speak for you to the people, and it will be as if ²  he ³  were your mouth ⁴  and as if you were his God. ⁵ 

he said to him, ¹  “I am the Lord. Tell ²  Pharaoh king of Egypt all that ³  I am telling ⁴  you.”

We must go ¹  on a three-day journey ²  into the desert and sacrifice ³  to the Lord our God, just as he is telling us.” ⁴ 

you must not fear them. You must carefully recall ¹  what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and all Egypt,

Remember that you were slaves in the land of Egypt; therefore, I am commanding you to do all this.

Gideon ¹  said to him, “If you really are pleased with me, ²  then give me ³  a sign as proof that it is really you speaking with me.

David said to the young man ¹  who was telling him this, “How do you know that Saul and his son Jonathan are dead?” ² 

Look, I will be waiting at the fords of the desert until word from you ¹  reaches me.”

The Lord’s anger again raged against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, “Go count Israel and Judah.” ¹ 

The clods of the torrent valley ¹  are sweet to him; behind him everybody follows in procession, and before him goes a countless throng.

They ¹  spend all their time planning how to bring him ²  down. ³  They love to use deceit; ⁴  they pronounce blessings with their mouths, but inwardly they utter curses. ⁵  (Selah)
