He must not go where there is any dead person; ¹  he must not defile himself even for his father and his mother.

In the inner sanctuary he made two cherubs of olive wood; each stood 15 feet ¹  high.

These who are named above were the leaders of their clans. Their extended families increased greatly in numbers.

In the most holy place he made two images of cherubim and plated them with gold.

the pure gold lampstands and their lamps which burned as specified at the entrance to the inner sanctuary,

The blind and lame came to him in the temple courts, and he healed them.

Her ¹  parents were astonished, but he ordered them to tell no one ²  what had happened.

Don’t let any escape!” So the royal guard and officers struck them down with the sword and left their bodies lying there. ²  Then they entered the inner sanctuary of the temple of Baal. ³ 

He removed from the entrance to the Lord’s temple the statues of horses ¹  that the kings of Judah had placed there in honor of the sun god. (They were kept near the room of Nathan Melech the eunuch, which was situated among the courtyards.) ²  He burned up the chariots devoted to the sun god. ³ 

Scarcely ¹  had I passed them by when I found my beloved! I held onto him ²  tightly and would not let him go ³  until I brought him to my mother’s house, ⁴  to the bedroom chamber ⁵  of the one who conceived me.

He went down to the chamber of the royal secretary in the king’s palace and found all the court officials in session there. Elishama ¹  the royal secretary, Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Achbor, ²  Gemariah son of Shaphan, Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the other officials were seated there.

It so happened that on the third day Esther put on her royal attire and stood in the inner court of the palace, ¹  opposite the king’s quarters. ²  The king was sitting on his royal throne in the palace, opposite the entrance. ³ 

But the land could ¹  not support them while they were living side by side. ²  Because their possessions were so great, they were not able to live ³  alongside one another.
