“And now my soul pours itself out within me; ¹  days of suffering take hold of me.

Its underparts ¹  are the sharp points of potsherds, it leaves its mark in the mud like a threshing sledge. ² 

For I say, “Loyal love is permanently established; ¹  in the skies you set up your faithfulness.” ² 

May a curse attach itself to him, like a garment one puts on, ¹  or a belt ²  one wears continually!

Wisdom rests in the heart of the discerning; it is known ¹  even in the heart ²  of fools.

Fearing the Lord ¹  leads ²  to life, ³  and one who does so will live ⁴  satisfied; he will not be afflicted ⁵  by calamity.

They have gone up to Assyria, like a wild donkey that wanders off. Ephraim has hired prostitutes as lovers. ¹ 

Increase ¹  your merchants more than the stars of heaven! They are like ²  the young locust which sheds ³  its skin and flies away.

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is well pleased ¹  to give you the kingdom.

God is spirit, ¹  and the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Am I saying that idols or food sacrificed to them amount to anything?

For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.

Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he captured ¹  captives; he gave gifts to men.” ² 

and to put on the new man who has been created in God’s image ¹  – in righteousness and holiness that comes from truth. ² 

I do not say this because I am seeking a gift. ¹  Rather, I seek the credit that abounds to your account.

You see that his faith was working together with his works and his faith was perfected by works.

The city’s ¹  wall is made ²  of jasper and the city is pure gold, like transparent glass. ³ 

On the first day of the first month they began consecrating; by the eighth day of the month they reached the porch of the Lord’s temple. ¹  For eight more days they consecrated the Lord’s temple. On the sixteenth day of the first month they were finished.

and they are afraid of heights and the dangers ¹  in the street; the almond blossoms ²  grow white, ³  and the grasshopper ⁴  drags itself along, ⁵  and the caper berry ⁶  shrivels up ⁷  – because man goes to his eternal home, ⁸  and the mourners go about in the streets –

God saw the earth, and indeed ¹  it was ruined, ²  for all living creatures ³  on the earth were sinful. ⁴
